I’ve bought the yarn I’m going to use to make Linden, Cascade Ecological Wool in color 8049 (Tarnish), and now I’m officially on a yarn diet.*No sock clubs. No impulse buys. Especially no sales.
No mindless pattern surfing. All pattern searches must be in pursuit of using yarn from the stash. No projects I can’t make with what I’ve already got. Everything in the queue must be assigned yarn from my stash. If it can’t be made from stash yarn, then it goes to the bottom of the queue.
For the gnarled oakwoods shawl I’ve got Knitpicks Shadow in the discontinued Campfire colorway, which recently gained popularity again after the Yarn Harlot showed the Adamas she finally finished in it. I say “finally” because she started it back in 2006. Anne at Knitspot confirmed on the Twist Collective group on Ravelry that Shadow should be a good choice. My Campfire is a bit stronger orange than Ms. Harlot’s and I think it will make a brilliant oakwoods shawl.
Coraline will be made out of the yarn I started the Cold Conference Room sweater in. I originally got that yarn for Coraline, so it seems fitting to return the yarn to it’s original intended purpose.
Beyond that, I’ve pared up a good number of projects in my Ravelry queue to yarn which should work for them. Hopefully that will solve the “what do I knit next and what shall I make it from” dilemma. We’ll see how well it actually works.
*There’s talk on the Twist Collective board that they may size up Come Together. The emphasis was that it’s just “talk” at this point and not any kind of a promise. If it does get sized up, I reserve the right to buy the yarn for that sweater.
