blog about your cat. . .

The Rosie One set up her bike on the trainer in the basement to start getting ready for the summer months of biking. This has three benefits: one - when you go out for the first real ride of the season you don’t end up sucking wind as badly as someone who didn’t use a trainer over the winter, two - no saddle butt from the first ride, and three - the cat can get into shape for bike season when you’re not using the trainer.

21 Dec 2007 Mike Huckabee’s MasterCard “Priceless” Moment
 |  Category: personal  |  Tags: ,  | Leave a Comment

According to this article in the New York Times, the following exchange took place when Mike Huckabee was in Des Moines :

“Who is your favorite author?” Aleya Deatsch, 7, of West Des Moines asked Mr. Huckabee in one of those posing-like-a-shopping-mall-Santa moments.

Mr. Huckabee paused, then said his favorite author was Dr. Seuss.

In an interview afterward with the news media, Aleya said she was somewhat surprised. She thought the candidate would be reading at a higher level.

“My favorite author is C. S. Lewis,” she said.

There’s a MasterCard priceless moment if I’ve ever seen one.

First Class airfare from Arkansas to Iowa: $781
Hotel room during pre-caucus trip: $1200
Finding out first hand from a seven-year-old that her state is better educated than the one you governed and thus ultimately bear some responsibility for: Priceless

Maybe he’s taking the Zaphod Beeblebrox approach to Presidency and making a spectacle of himself to keep attention away from what the real power is doing. I hate to tell him, but in US politics, that’s the vice president’s job.

16 Dec 2007 Look Who Came to Visit the Baby Jesus

It is less well known that along with the wise men from the east who came to Jerusalem to worship the Christ child, there came four others from farther east.
Ninja duckies visit baby Jesus
The four ninja-duckies (of the rare Anas Ninjicus species - seen to the right) came to protect Mary, Joseph, and the Christ child as they fled from Herod. This previously unknown picture captures the arrival of the aquatic ninjas presenting themselves to the Christ Child before disappearing into the shadows, as ninjas are often wont to do.

19 Nov 2007 Wrong word, Reuters!

You can always count on Reuters: Oddly Enough for a laugh, though not always for the reason they think the news is funny. Take today’s headliner: Firemen told to abstain from sexual bribes, which is about a new edict in China trying to combat official corruption on all levels, including corruption in firehouses.

In explaining the problems China has with illicit sex and official corruption in China, the article quotes the official news agency, Xinhua as saying:

“For every 10 corrupt officials, nine are involved in illicit sex. This old tune has already been proved by statistics from disciplinary organs many times”.

Disciplinary organs? Kinky.

All I can think of is my friend Karl Johnson, who often exclaimed “Bailiff! Whack his pee-pee!”
