Yes, I’ve finished two hats without getting pictures of them yet. Apparently, it’s “against the unwritten rules of Ravelry” to do that, at least according to my sister Ninn, but I’ve been knitting until it’s too dark to get good pictures. Everyone will just have to be satisfied with a picture from my blog fodder archive instead.

So, there’s been no knitting this weekend. I should just admit that right up front. I had these great intentions, but somehow I managed not to pick up sticks of that kind.
I have all kinds of excuses.
It’s the first day of the new year and I still haven’t figured out my goals for the coming year. I cleaned out my blog feeds. Any blog where the writer hasn’t posted in over a month is gone from my feed reader. That’s pretty much the extent of what I accomplished today.
I also started a hat for my sister, Pookie, but I didn’t get as far on it as I’d hoped today. I should be able to finish it tomorrow, though, so that’ll be a good thing.
I played some World of Warcraft with HR and our friend Steve. My new hunter character now has her pet. I’ve never understood the attraction some people have for the piggy pets, but I do now. I tamed me a piggy and it rocks. Between me and the piggy, Steve hardly has time to fire more than two spells with his mage.
Maybe I’ll figure out what I want to do for my goals this year later tonight. It’s good to have goals after all.
So, when World of Warcraft == Love, I guess you’ve got to craft the wacky. It’s a bottle of Moonberry Juice, because you couldn’t just give your loved one a plain old bottle of sparkling blueberry juice, now could you?
She crafted it for him. Heh heh. Crafted.
Plus the latest episode of my favorite YouTube broadcast, The Guild posted! I was most amused by The Guild: A Christmas Raid Carol, because no Christmas is complete without a WoW in-joke.
Lately, I’ve been annoyed by the amount of time that playing World of Warcraft takes from my knitting schedule. I like knitting. A lot. I border on obsessed. Okay, maybe border is being a little too kind about my mania, but that’s not the point. I like knitting. I like the fact that even when I’m feeling like total crap, I can sit and work on something and feel like I’ve accomplished something.
I also like World of Warcraft. It allows a group of friends who used to spend a lot of time together but don’t really do so all that much anymore to feel like we do get to spend time together again. In some ways, I guess we do, in our separate on-line way.
That’s not the point.
The point is that there’s tons of wasted time traveling in WoW. Now I can’t knit in the car on a long trip, because I will chuck, guaranteed, but I can set my character on auto-follow and pick up my travel project while someone else navigates my toon Nentari’s sorry virtual-ass to the next battleground. (After all, friends let friends auto-follow.)
I’m a warlock, so I can set my pet to defensive and I can knit while waiting for my mana to recharge. Most importantly, I can knit when flying from one end of the map to the other, which is one of the biggest chunks of wasted time in the game.
Last night, for example, I got eight inches done on my nephew’s scarf during those wasted moments of the game. With as much as I play and the amount of wasted time during game play, I’m thinking I could devote a simple sweater to off moments of WoW time and get it done in no time at all.
Now if I could just figure out a way to knit during combat, I’d be all set.
